T’Prynn

Starbase 47‘s intelligence officer, T’Prynn was charged with ensuring the secrecy of Operation Vanguard, a task she undertook with unwavering and even ruthless efficiency. Unknown to anyone at the time, she had suffered severe mental trauma for decades, the result of a violent mind meld she endured during an abortive marriage ceremony on her home planet of Vulcan. Since that time, she carried within her mind the consciousness of Sten, her fiancé whom she killed during ritual combat.[1] The pressures of this continuous mental struggle, coupled with the trauma of losing her lover, Anna Sandesjo, finally became too much for T’Prynn, and she fell into a deep coma. As station doctors attempted to ascertain her condition and searched for a cure, the war she had waged within her mind continued unabated.[2]

Reyes, Diego

Commanding officer of Starbase 47, as well as the person responsible for overseeing the mission to discover the secrets of the Taurus Reach. A man of strong conviction and principles as well as an unwavering loyalty to Starfleet and the Federation, Reyes found himself gripped in a crisis of conscience. The secret nature of his mission and the potential it carried to destabilize the relations between the Federation and its neighbors forced him to take questionable and even illegal actions. Forced by circumstance and political expediency to cover up the truth behind the destruction of the U.S.S. Bombay, a starship assigned to Starbase 47,[1] Reyes was later forced to lay waste to the surface of Gamma Tauri IV in an effort to contain a Shedai threat.[2] The action, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of Federation and Klingon colonists, eventually led Reyes to allow the publication of an exposé by journalistm Tim Pennington that revealed much of the truth behind the Shedai and the menace they represented.[2] As a result, Reyes was arrested and charged with violoation of Starfleet regulations. En route to his court martial, his ship was destroyed and he was presumed to have been killed, but in reality he had been abducted by Klingons and soon found himself at the mercy of those he had once considered to be his adversaries.[3]

Taurus Reach

Starbase 47 (VAN #1)
Starbase 47 (VAN #1)

A largely unexplored region of space, situated between the borders of Federation, Klingon, and Tholian territory;[1] the region was known as the Gonmog Sector to the Klingons,[2] and as the Shedai sector to the Tholians.[1] In 2265, the U.S.S. Constellation NCC-1017, commanded by Commodore Matt Decker, discovered the remnants of an ancient, incredibly powerful civilization, the Shedai, with links to one of the Federation’s most mysterious adversaries, the Tholians, as well as the Taurus meta-genome, a complex strand of deliberately engineered DNA that seemed to hold the key to genetic manipulation and perhaps even artificial world-building on a scale never before imagined. The scientific and martial potential of unlocking this knowledge quickly became obvious, and Starfleet launched a mammoth exploration and research effort into the region. As the investigation continued, Starfleet scientists uncovered an enigmatic energy waveform in the Jinoteur system, which was believed to be the homeworld of the long-dead Shedai. This waveform, working in concert with the meta-genome, was considered to be the key to unlocking all of the Taurus Reach’s many secrets.[1]

Olson (ST-11)

ST11 Timeline

Olson served as the chief engineer of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 under Captain Christopher Pike. Olson was eager to confront the Romulans after the brutal assault of the Battle of Vulcan, but his zealousness made him careless, which ultimately resulted in his death during an assault on the Narada.[1] Portrayed by Greg Ellis.

U.S.S. Kelvin NCC-0514 (ST-11)

Commanded by Captain Richard Robau in 2233, the Starship Kelvin was assigned to patrol near the Klingon border. Also serving aboard the Kelvin were first officer Commander George Samuel Kirk, Sr., his wife Lieutenant Winona Kirk, and helmsman Lieutenant Pitts.[1, 2]

ST11 Timeline

On Stardate 2233.04, the Kelvin detected an anomaly near the Klingon border that resembled a “lightning storm in space.” Upon investigation, an enormous Romulan ship, the Narada, emerged, having traveled back in time from the year 2384. The Narada immediately attacked, crippling the Kelvin. Captain Robau boarded the Narada, but was killed when the Romulans realized what had happened to them. Commander Kirk, now in command, followed Captain Robau’s final instructionsto him, ordering an evacuation of the ship in order to implement General Order 13 — attempting a last-ditch effort to destroy the Narada by ramming it with the Kelvin. Kirk was forced to sacrifice himself in order to pilot the ship, but he saved more than 800 lives in the process.[1]

Battle of Vulcan

On Stardate 2258.42, Vulcan was attacked by the Narada, a Romulan ship from the future. Six Starfleet ships were destroyed by the Narada:[1] the U.S.S. Truman,[1] the U.S.S. Farragut NCC-1647,[1] the U.S.S. Mayflower NCC-1621,[1] the U.S.S. Excelsior NCC-1718,[2] the U.S.S. Armstrong NCC-1784,[2] and the U.S.S. Defiant NCC-1764.[2] The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 survived only because its departure from Earth was delayed, allowing Cadet James T. Kirk to warn Captain Christopher Pike of the danger that the ship faced.[1] Unfortunately, none were able to stand up to the power of the Narada‘s future weaponry, and Vulcan was destroyed by an artificial quantum singularity, killing billions of Vulcans in a matter of minutes.[1]

Miranda Class (ST-02)

The Starship Armstrong was a Miranda class vessel.[1]

ST11 Timeline

The Starship Armstrong was part of a Starfleet task force destroyed by the Narada in the Battle of Vulcan on Stardate 2258.42.[2]

The Armstrong‘s registry number was never given, but as every other ship has shared its registry number with its Prime Timeline counterpart, it seems logical that the Armstrong would, as well.

Starbases

Watchtower-class starbase (TOS-53)
Watchtower-class starbase (TOS-53)

The Federation asserted its sovereignty in space space through a series of starbases, which could be located on a planet’s surface or on a space station, or a combination of both. This network of starbases provided a wide range of services; starbases could act as supply posts, recreation facilities, scientific outposts, trade hubs, and administrative centers. While all starbases provided each of these services, many were noted for their superiority in one or two specific areas.[1]
