T’Prynn

Starbase 47‘s intelligence officer, T’Prynn was charged with ensuring the secrecy of Operation Vanguard, a task she undertook with unwavering and even ruthless efficiency. Unknown to anyone at the time, she had suffered severe mental trauma for decades, the result of a violent mind meld she endured during an abortive marriage ceremony on her home planet of Vulcan. Since that time, she carried within her mind the consciousness of Sten, her fiancé whom she killed during ritual combat.[1] The pressures of this continuous mental struggle, coupled with the trauma of losing her lover, Anna Sandesjo, finally became too much for T’Prynn, and she fell into a deep coma. As station doctors attempted to ascertain her condition and searched for a cure, the war she had waged within her mind continued unabated.[2]

Reyes, Diego

Commanding officer of Starbase 47, as well as the person responsible for overseeing the mission to discover the secrets of the Taurus Reach. A man of strong conviction and principles as well as an unwavering loyalty to Starfleet and the Federation, Reyes found himself gripped in a crisis of conscience. The secret nature of his mission and the potential it carried to destabilize the relations between the Federation and its neighbors forced him to take questionable and even illegal actions. Forced by circumstance and political expediency to cover up the truth behind the destruction of the U.S.S. Bombay, a starship assigned to Starbase 47,[1] Reyes was later forced to lay waste to the surface of Gamma Tauri IV in an effort to contain a Shedai threat.[2] The action, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of Federation and Klingon colonists, eventually led Reyes to allow the publication of an exposé by journalistm Tim Pennington that revealed much of the truth behind the Shedai and the menace they represented.[2] As a result, Reyes was arrested and charged with violoation of Starfleet regulations. En route to his court martial, his ship was destroyed and he was presumed to have been killed, but in reality he had been abducted by Klingons and soon found himself at the mercy of those he had once considered to be his adversaries.[3]

Commodore José Mendez succeeded Commodore Stone as commander of Starbase 11 in 2266.[1] Soon afterward, Commander Spock abducted the crippled Fleet Captain Christopher Pike and stole the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 in order to transport Pike to Talos IV.[2] An illusory version of Mendez presided with Enterprise Captain James T. Kirk and Pike over Spock’s court martial for charges of mutiny and violation of General Order 7,[2, 3] but the real Mendez, having witnessed the events thanks to the Talosians‘ powers of illusion, later cleared Spock of all charges.[3] Portrayed by Malachi Throne.
