U.S.S. Farragut NCC-1647
Constitution class (TOS-10)
The Constitution class Starship Farragut was commanded by Captain Garrovick and was James T. Kirk‘s first assignment out of Starfleet Academy. In 2257, 200 members of the Farragut crew, including Captain Garrovick, were killed by the dikironium cloud creature discovered at planet Tycho IV.[1]
ST11 Timeline
The Starship Farragut was part of a Starfleet task force destroyed by the Narada in the Battle of Vulcan on Stardate 2258.42.[2] Prior to leaving Earth, the Farragut took on several Starfleet Academy cadets, including Cadet Gerace;[3] Cadet Nyota Uhura was nearly among them, but was transferred to the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 instead at the last moment.[2]

U.S.S. Exeter NCC-1672
U.S.S. Exeter (TOS-54)
In 2268, the Constitution-class Starship Exeter visited planet Omega IV, where Captain Ronald Tracey brought back a deadly virus from an ancient bacteriological war, which infected his entire crew and reduced them to dehydrated crystals. Having developed an immunity from the planet’s atmosphere, Tracey returned to the surface and became involved in the internal struggles there, providing the primitive civilization with phasers. Tracey was discovered by the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 and arrested on charges of violating the Prime Directive.[1]

Excelsior class
Excelsior class (ST-06)
Excelsior class refit (ST-07)
In October 2284, the U.S.S. Excelsior NX-2000, the first of a new class, was commissioned. This vessel was the newest in Starfleet, and it incorporated many experimental operating systems.[3] Originally designed as a test-bed for the experimental transwarp drive, the Excelsior was called “The Great Experiment” by many in influential circles.[1] These ships were the newest of any in Starfleet and incorporated experimental technology in most of the components required to operate a starship. With so many new systems aboard these vessels, the process of testing them was slow. Prior to being installed, each component was tested and retested until it met standards. Nevertheless, when the Excelsior was taken out for trials, the evaluation teams were constantly faced with primary system malfunctions that would not allow any of the secondary or backup systems to be tested. This caused the evaluators to deal with these new components on a one-at-a-time basis, and thus creating time delays in the commissioning of the class.[3]
The Excelsior class underwent a number of late design changes when the transwarp project ultimately failed. While transwarp was never realized, designers were unwilling to cast aside what was otherwise a sound cruiser design. The transwarp engines were removed in favor of conventional linear warp drive engines. The Excelsior class could cruise at Warp 8, sustain speeds of Warp 10 for several hours, and reach Warp 13 when necessary. This made it by far the fastest Starfleet vessel for almost five decades.[31]

U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-A
U.S.S. Enterprise (ST-06)
U.S.S. Enterprise (ST-06)
The second Federation starship to bear the name, the Enterprise-A was a Constitution-class vessel, launched in 2286 and placed under the command of the recently-demoted Captain James T. Kirk by the Federation Council and Starfleet Command in appreciation for his role in saving Earth from the destructive effects of an alien space probe.[1] The new Enterprise was, in fact, a contemporary of her predecessor; the ship was recommissioned the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-A by a special act of the Federation Council.[4]

I.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 (Mirror)
I.S.S. Enterprise (TOS-39)
Constitution class (TOS-10)
Mirror Universe starship serving the brutal Terran Empire. A landing party from the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 was accidentally transported to the I.S.S. Enterprise during a severe ion storm in 2267. The mirror universe Enterprise‘s crew were savage and, in many ways, opposite to the U.S.S. Enterprise crew; their mission was to conquer and control worlds for the empire. Subtle but disturbing differences existed on the I.S.S. Enterprise, including the Imperial Earth-and-dagger emblem painted on doors and henchmen guarding the corridors.[1]

Space Shuttle Enterprise OV-101
Space Shuttle (NASA)
Early Earth orbital test vehicle, the prototype for the planet’s first reusable spacecraft, the Space Shuttle Enterprise was named in honor of several historic naval vessels, and was designated OV-101.[5] An image of this ship, the first spacecraft to bear the name Enterprise, was displayed in Captain Archer‘s ready room aboard the Enterprise NX-01,[4] on the rec deck of the refitted U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701,[1] and in the observation lounges of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D[2] and the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-E.[3] The ship remained in the Smithsonian Institution until 2271, when it was refitted with a modern drive system and made spaceworthy to celebrate the anniversary of the Apollo 11 Lunar landing.[5]

Part of the United States Navy in the late 20th and early 21st centuries on Earth, the Enterprise was a nuclear-powered Nimitz class aircraft carrier from which Starfleet officers Chekov and Uhura “borrowed” high-energy photons in order to recrystallize the failing dilithium crystals in their ship in order to return to their proper time period. During the covert operation while the Enterprise was docked at a Naval Base in Alameda, Chekov was captured by Naval personnel, but eventually escaped.[1]
