“We’ve forgotten about room inspection!” Kathryn yelled.

“But the drill’s not over!”

“Yes it is! The lights have stopped flashing!”

Indeed, the Red Alert lights had stopped flashing. Dunkirk cringed. “Oops.”

Kathryn started for the lift at a dead run. “Frost, if your daydreaming has made me fail inspection I’ll—” She didn’t finish but rode the lift back up to the fourth floor and, leaving Dunkirk behind, ran to her room. Other cadets were already back in their rooms, desperately cleaning up for inspections. So ThrumPol and I weren’t the only ones who failed the first time, Kathryn thought.

“Attention, cadets,” came Yeoman Hott’s voice over the loudspeaker. “All rooms have failed inspection. Cadets are to report immediately to the Study Lounge on Level One. Repeat, report immediately to the Study Lounge on Level One.”
