A youthful cadet earns the opportunity to shuttle computer genius Richard Daystrom to a conference. When Kirk‘s orders change, he is furious, much to the contempt of his two passengers, McCoy and Spock. On the flight, space pirates hijack the vessel, believing that Daystrom is aboard. Now the three of them will have to work together and ignore the usual protocols to survive.
