Humanoid species. The Tandarans were suspicious of all Suliban because of the actions of the Cabal, and built a detention center where innocent Suliban civilians were imprisoned.[1]

Talosian Specimens
The Talosians kept a zoo full of “descendants of life brought back long ago from all over [their] part of the galaxy.” These specimens included a primate-like creature and an avian-humanoid creature. It is unclear if they were sentient. The Talosians attempted to add Humans to their menagerie when the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 visited Talos IV.[1]

Talosians (TOS-00)
The Talosians were a humanoid species native to Talos IV and possessed enormous brains “three times the size” of average humanoids, according to U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Science Officer Spock. Veins in their heads would throb when using their telepathic abilities. According to Dr. Philip Boyce, “Their power of illusion is so great, we can’t be sure of anything we do, or anything we see.” The Talosians lived underground, and according to Vina, over the centuries following the near-destruction of their world in a nuclear war, the Talosians forgot how to repair the machines left behind by their ancestors, while concentrating on developing their mental abilities. They couldn’t read through “primitive” emotional states, such as anger. The Talosians also kept a zoo full of “descendants of life brought back long ago from all over [their] part of the galaxy.” These specimens included a primate-like creature and a avian-humanoid creature when Captain Christopher Pike was held by the Talosians in the 2250s. It was unclear if these creatures were sentient.[1]

Suliban
Humanoid species. Their distinguishing physical characteristic was their mottled, greenish-yellow-tinted skin. The Suliban were originally from Sector 3641, but their homeworld became uninhabitable around the Earth year of 1851, and most of them became nomadic. One faction of Suliban were members of the Cabal, an organization of soldiers involved with the Temporal Cold War. The Cabal took its orders from the future, and in exchange, were able to alter their DNA and restructure their skeletons, giving them unique chameleononic and shapeshifting abilities, as well as enhanced senses.[1] The Cabal’s activities caused trouble for some civilian Suliban who had assimilated into other cultures. For example, one group of peaceful Suliban was detained at a Tandaran internment camp.[2]

Space Boomers
Slang term for a post-warp generation of Humans who lived primarily in space—some of their offspring were even born there. Sometimes shortened to “boomer.”[1]

Son’a
The Son’a were a technologically advanced humanoid race with extremely questionable morals; in the course of a century, they conquered other species, developed illegal weapons, and produced quantities of the narcotic ketracel-white. The Son’a were also a very materialistic people: their clothes were encrusted with jewels, and one of their leaders, Ahdar Ru’afo, sat on a large, richly-decorated couch on the bridge of his ship. The Son’a entered into a brief alliance with the Federation, but the Son’a had little respect for interstellar law; their vessels were fitted with illegal isolytic subspace weapons, which were outlawed by the Second Khitomer Accords. These devices generated a subspace tear that was attracted to an enemy vessel’s warp core. Subspace weapons were banned because they were so unpredictable, and there was no single tactic that was guaranteed to counter them.

Regulan Bloodworms
These “soft and shapeless” creatures[1] were very useful for filtering toxins from humanoids. Dr. Phlox carried a supply aboard the Enterprise NX-01, but he preferred the fresh ones from Regulus. When Travis Mayweather was given an antigenic compound that caused a bad reaction, Phlox suggested using blood worms to filter out the toxins.[2]

Pyrithian Bats
Part of Dr. Phlox‘s menagerie of medically-useful creatures aboard the Enterprise NX-01. The doctor had a particular affinity for the Pyrithian bat, and even admitted to talking to it on occasion. He also needed a constant supply of live creatures to feed the bat, as it would not eat anything that it was already dead.[1]

Polycocyx Astris
Polycocyx Astris, a virulent species of space-dwelling microbe, could be found inside grains of interstellar dust. It was able to drift in a dormant state for millions of years before infecting a host and causing a rather nasty cold.[1]

Paraagans
The matriarchal Paraagans established a small mining outpost in the Alpha Quadrant c.2131. Over the next two decades, it grew into a colony of approximately 3,600, complete with schools and a museum. In 2152, the Enterprise NX-01 planned to visit the colony, but its shuttle apparently ignited tetrazine in the planet’s atmosphere, eradicating all life on the surface. Because of this, the Enterprise‘s mission was cancelled. Eventually, Captain Archer discovered that the Suliban were actually responsible for the explosion, and the Enterprise was allowed to continue.[1]
