Raptor class (ENT-14)
Raptor class (ENT-91)
Designed for short and medium range reconnaissance missions and swift attacks, the Klingons employed these vessels to search for targets of opportunity and raid shipping lanes (which made it quite popular among Klingon pirates). Although small and lacking substantial armament, the Raptor class—or qampu in Klingon[3]—was best suited to missions calling for quick strikes. Spartan by design, the Klingons designed the class as a small, rapid attack ship capable of reconnoitering in advance of a larger attack fleet or raiding lightly-defended targets. In many ways, the Raptor class was the predecessor of the D-12 and B’rel class birds-of-prey.[2]

I.K.S. Negh’var IKS-7500
I.K.S. Negh’Var (DS9-473-474)
The Negh’var was the flagship of the Klingon Empire in the late 24th century. Designed to be an imposing and formidable opponent, this ship was only brought out when the Empire mobilized in force; the ship was rarely encountered alone, but at the head of a fleet. At least two Vor’cha class battleships and two wings of B’rel or K’vort class warships would travel alongside it. It also served as the flagship of the chancellor of the Klingon High Council. The Negh’var was capable of a wide range of military missions, from landing ground troops for planetary assault to invasion.[3]

Negh’var class
Negh’Var (DS9-473-474)
The largest ship in the Klingon Defense Force fleet, the Negh’var class represented the pinnacle of Klingon design and made for an impressive display of might. Roughly comparable to the size of Starfleet‘s Galaxy class ships, and following the dictate “more is better,” the Klingons constructed the class with the largest engines, the most powerful disruptors, and the best cloaking device available to them.[4]
